Fundraising Dinner, Dance and Auction
One hundred and forty people turned out to the very successful event on 25 of November 2011 to support Jonathan and Daniel in their Olympic campaign. The event was held at Clovelly Golf Club and guests were treated to a champagne reception followed by a three course meal. Wally Dicks, from Screech Rum, the premier sponsor of the NL for Gold campaign, presented a short overview of their local products and their continuing program of support. Jonathan, via Skype from Australia, provided a brief update of progress and thanked all for their support. A video of some of the team’s recent training in San Francisco (see below) was shown to give the audience a “feel” for the actual sailing before starting the live auction. Auctioneer Wayne Bartlett guided the audience to even further levels of support. Once planned activities were complete the local band Abbey Road played for those wishing to extend the evening.
